This Week's 3 Favorite Things

1.   Top 6 Designs That Harness the Power of Play- Giving kids new green energy efficient toys to play with it.  Wish we had these types of cool toys available when we were kids.  Just goes to show you that being green doesn't just stop with building cars or homes!  

2.   Progressive Learning- For the difference they make in a child's life.  Progressive Learning is the type of company that more school's need to use.  They provide students with supplemental learning and mentoring and enhance their ability to learn the materials needed to move forward in school. 

3.   Nami- National Alliance on Mental Illness- For the difference they make for the mentally ill and their loved ones.

1.  iCeL Systems, Inc.- amazing lithium battery technology.
2. Moooi Furniture Company- really cool furniture...very interesting pieces.
3. Keleen Leathers- A family run company for over 30 years.   Their offices are located just outside of Chicago however, they have representatives and designers located all over the world.  Just great products all around.

1. Animation of the Mark Hotel New York by Jean Phillip Delhomme- Totally sums up what staying at the hotel would be like.  Fun, elegant, glamorous with a touch of lightheartedness!  If you get the chance to go to New York I highly reccommend staying at the Mark Hotel.  Its right on Madison ave and one block away from Central Park, you can't ask for a better location!

3. Graphaids...the art supply store in Culver City.  If you need anything relating to art supplies rest assured Graphaids will have it!  I mean talk about an art superstore!

This Week's 3 Favorite Things

1. The City of Compton-  The city is currently in the process of re-birthing and RECREATING itself into a world class destination location for living and learning.   Getting the younger generation to participate in the process. 
2. World Vision International- World Vision works within communities and across geographical areas to help individuals and groups improve the well-being of children and overcome poverty.  Can you imagine if everyone helped a child or individual to overcome poverty everyday what kind of world this would be?
3. L.A. Dodgers- It's too bad that the Dodgers couldn't hold onto to the 9-7 victory over the Cubs this past Saturday!  But with the Dodgers you really never know, they can come back and make a surprise win in this week's game!

This Week's 3 Favorite Things

1. Ortolan Restaurant- So I am going to do some shameless advertising for myself as well as promote a fabulous restaurant.  Espace Design, my company, completely remodeled the space and painted the outside of the building to look like butter!  Chef and owner Christophe Eme who is also married to actress Jerri Ryan created a special spring menu every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.  The entire 3 course meal costs $40 and tastes like a million dollars!  What can I say its exquisite...
2. Sub zero Under counter Icemaker- got to love the scoop in the ice-maker and the shape of the cubes.  It is especially cool that it fits right underneath your counter.
3. Jewel Box Frames- These are innovative frames that are designed to look like pieces of art.  They not only have several of their own designs but they can also create your own custom design as well. 

This Week's 3 Favorite Things

1. Ojai Valley Inn and Spa- This is the perfect weekend getaway, so close to Los Angeles, and just beautiful!  There is something for everyone at this resort; golf, tennis and a spa- need I say more! 
2. Kiehl's Rare Earth Deep Pore Daily Cleanser- Mild foaming cleanser is just fantastic for keeping your skin soft and smooth.  The gentle exfoliation helps reduce and eliminate toxins, how great is that?  
3. Frank Lloyd Gallery- Bergamot Station.  Robert Graham is one of the many rare artisits that the gallery has had an exhibition for.  Graham has created several monuments in the Los Angeles area, works such as The Olympic Gateway & The Great Bronze Doors of the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels.

1. Bel-Air Chateau Sold: Record Breaking Real Estate sale in one of the most lavish gated communities located in the hills of Los Angeles.   Although I don't know the exact price the estate sold for, according to the Huffington Post it sold anywhere between $50 to $72 million dollars.  Talk about amazing in this day and age!  It just goes to show you that there is still money to made in this city!

  

2.  The Venice Canals: There is so much one can say about the Venice Canals but I am going to limit my thoughts here.  First and foremost I love the venice canals!  Venice, ca is home to the venice art walk and is home to some of L.A.'s finest artists, such as Robert Graham who has a show at the Frank Lloyd gallery at the Bergamot station.  Let's not forget that it is also home to the famous Venice Beach.

3.  Eames Stamps are out:

The US Postal service honored the design legends we’ve been admiring for years. The furniture, graphics, films, and innovation of design duo Charles and Ray Eames are monumentally depicted on these miniature stamps, designed by Derry Noyes (granddaughter of the Eames’ dear friend Eli Noyes). 1. Holly Hunt Great Plains Fabrics- The Great Outdoors.  This fabric has a classic hue and a rich texture.  I have been using these fabrics for many years and have come love the richness and classic style of the Holly Hunt fabrics.
2. Roberta Roller Rabbit- at the Brentwood Country Mart.  The store has a variety of clothing & accessories with unique prints that Roberta Freymann has incorporated in her designs.  Located at the Brentwood Country Mart, 225 26th Street, Suite 4, Santa Monica
3. Stefan's L.A. Farm Restaurant- a great place for lunch and an even better place for dinner.  The restaurant is located among office buildings on Olympic blvd. in Santa Monica but is surprisingly pleasant inside.  It has a great open vibe and great food!  You gotta love the fire pits...Absolutely worth checking out!

1. American Tea Room- Lavender Provençal - Pure Tea.  I just love this Lavender tea it is so smooth, flavorful and just plain soothing.  The store has every kind of tea from every part of the world available.  It is the type of place that will satisfy the very best of tea connoisseurs.
2. Candles from Francesca's on Montana.  This boutique offers everything from clothing, accessories to great gifts for every type of person.  The boutique is located at 1230 Montana Ave. #106 Santa Monica CA 90403 (310) 255-1988
3. Orchids de Oro- Tom Henry- If you truly want to see beauty visit this store.  Not only do they carry rare pieces of art & statues, but also amazing flowers.  The orchids,  are well,  simply beautiful.

1. Medicine Cabinet with a Twist- the Robern Uplift Cabinet.  Functional space-saver, recessed inside your wall.
2. The Language of Flowers- Delicious Couple and you can't believe their prices.
3. Kitson Warehouse Sale- next 30 days.  Just got some really cute sex and the city shoes.  These are $500 shoes and I can't believe they were only $30!
